I've been a busy bee this summer showing work and getting new paintings made for all of my upcoming shows and deadlines. It's been super fun! I was honored to be chosen as the featured artist for the Simplicity Homes Tour Home model in this year's COBA '15 Tour of Homes. COBA stands for Central Oregon Builder's Association. I'm letting you have sneak peek, behind the scenes of me working on my big painting, "Anticipation" 2015. It measures 6' tall by 4' wide so I stood on a step stool for half of my painting process! Working large is so much fun. I custom build the canvases with my husband and my father in law was in town to help with this one as well! It was a real family effort.
Always a big -- Not sure where this is going...let's jump in as I start a new painting!
Here I am using my favorite painting technique, scraping paint with repurposed tools. In this case, my fave: recycled and repurposed credit cards/plastic hotel keys/plastic gift cards. They make great paint tools and I've convinced a few artist friends to try the same!
I'm not that tall, I'm standing on a step stool to reach the top of the 6 foot high painting in my studio. My daughter took this photo of me while I was working on "Anticipation" 2015.
